People who know me, know I love a challenge. That determination to succeed whatever the odds, helps explain why I enjoy running and have completed over 10 half marathons, despite all the blisters and numerous injuries. If I can overcome my latest knee injury, the intention is to run a full marathon. Not that I am comparing myself in any way, but successful distance runners like Mo Farah will tell you, it takes dedication, persistence, and goal-orientation to complete a race that calls for stamina over speed. I believe these same qualities are equally valuable in a business environment.
The corporate travel sector is not without its challenges – but that’s part of the attraction for me. The way I see it, there’s a huge opportunity to help corporate travellers and the businesses that employ them to deliver greater return on investment from their managed travel programmes. Increasingly, a corporation’s Travel and Expense policy (or T&E as it is commonly known) is seen not only as a way to manage spend and deliver bottom line results, but as a significant contributor to employee engagement and well-being.
I’m really excited about my new role as Head of Corporations for Amadeus in the UK and Ireland. It feels like I’ve been building up to it over some time, like preparing for one of my many races. (1)
I spent the past 4+ years as Amadeus’ Senior Global Account Manager for American Express Global Business Travel. Prior to that, I headed up the Amadeus e-Travel Management Global Reseller team, managing relationships with large Travel Management Companies acting as resellers for that solution.
In my new role, what I’m really looking forward to is spearheading the deployment and adoption of Amadeus cytric Travel & Expense in the UK and Ireland. Of course, I won’t be doing this on my own. Even though running a marathon looks like a solitary sport, there is a huge support network behind the scenes. So even for marathons, success is often a team effort. That’s why in my new role I’ll be relying on my colleagues who are experts in the pre-Sales, Sales, Account Management, Product and Marketing functions, to name a few.
I’m confident that together, we’ll be able to support Amadeus’ ambitious goals towards meeting the ever-changing needs of corporate travellers and help power smarter business travel in the UK and Ireland.
