Driving on the Sequoia National Park - UsaThe sharing-economy’s poster-child is the transfer and taxi sector. Uber has transformed booking a taxi from an app into a billion-dollar business, and kick-started a revolution in how people book cabs. This has turned the spotlight on pre-booking transfers, which opens the door to generating additional revenues.

Taxi anyone?
To take advantage of the multi-million dollar transfer market, travel professionals ideally need a one-stop shop covering everything from the first to the last mile, for any type of traveller.
By looking at the traveller’s entire trip experience (door to door and not simply airport to airport), travel professionals can provide greater convenience and peace of mind for the business traveller whose number one priority is getting the job done. For the family and leisure market, pre-booking transfers eliminates stress and provides the security of a named welcome that also helps personalise the trip. Anyway you care to look at it, you’ll be delivering a much better experience than leaving customers to fend for themselves waiting in line for a taxi and being charged who knows what?

But it isn’t just about customer service and satisfaction. This can benefit your bottom line with extra service fees, commission or a markup on additional segments in the Passenger Name Record (or booking).

Amadeus Transfers enables you to book taxi or transfer services from several providers whether it’s for a single passenger or larger groups needing a minibus. It will become multi-modal over the summer with the addition of Heathrow Express. Imagine being able to deliver choice in an easy price display that enables you to compare express rail into the city (priced per passenger) versus a private car transfer priced per car with multiple passengers. And all from a single platform.

It is easy to start using with the flexible business models offered: use the public rates for ad hoc requests, register with the providers to get either commissionable or net rates, or simply register with Amadeus (coming later in 2017).

Using Amadeus technology means the live transfer booking is fully integrated in the passenger’s itinerary, from reservation through to the mid- and back-office systems.
