I am both lucky and proud to be part of a great team at Amadeus UK. We have real experts in their fields and people with a real passion and drive to do the right thing for our customer partners. We have people who have been with us for many years and have gained a huge amount of experience in different parts of our business, both through developing solutions and through working on a huge number of customer projects. We are also lucky to have people who have recently joined us having worked in many other parts of the travel and technology industries, in some cases for our customers or our competitors, and who bring much experience with them. What that does is to give us a great mix of people and skills and a real melting pot of new ideas.
And of course the UK business is just one of the many different operations that makes up the truly global world of Amadeus, which is full of people with wide skill sets, a huge variety of cultural backgrounds, and specialist skills from technology development through to languages and deep understandings of the markets in which they operate. This means that I am part not only of a great local team but of a great international one as well.
What motivates us to get up in the morning is to make a difference to the commercial success of our customer partners. We want our businesses to be mutually successful through technology, and we want to offer the best possible levels of service and commitment to our customers. We don’t want to engage only on the basis of distribution (as vitally important as this is) but also to broaden the discussion to speak about business pain points and to agree how we can deliver, develop or invent a technology solutions portfolio which best fits the need of that business.
Of course this takes time and effort. I firmly believe that a successful business partnership is not only founded on the best possible commercial terms but also on the foundation of a respectful and open relationship between our businesses. What that means is that the team that I work with, and the team that I lead, want both to challenge and to be challenged. We want to be given – and relish – the opportunity to go the extra mile. We want to finish our working day and know that we have done the best possible job and served our customers to the highest possible standard.
I believe that this is where Amadeus particularly makes a difference. Of course the technology has to be right and the commercials at the optimum level for a long term, sustainable, business partnership with our customers, but we also have to consult with each other and know what we have done right, how we can build on the areas in which we are mutually successful, and where we should improve.
If you are a customer of Amadeus already I encourage you to keep in touch and use our consulting approach as much as possible. If you are not a customer of Amadeus we would love to talk with you about what your business needs and your ambitions, so that we can build a relationship with you as well.
To coin a phrase, it really is good to talk.
