When I heard that I’d been nominated for a Peoples Award, I was shocked and, if I’m honest, a little embarrassed. Every day I meet and work with so many people which I believe to be more deserving.
Disappointingly, I wasn’t able to attend the awards lunch at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel on the 22nd May due to prior personal commitments, but my Amadeus colleagues were there to represent the team.
To my amazement I then find out I’d actually won the Supplier Category: Business Development / Manager of the Year 2015! What an honour! Fortunately, when I heard the news I was stuck in stationary traffic on the M6, who knows what might have happened if I’d actually been moving.
The icing on the cake for me about this particular accolade is that The People Awards is about the people in the industry, rather than the companies. It’s recognizing the individual’s and teams across all aspects of corporate business travel management. The messages of congratulations I’ve since received from customers, colleagues, friends and family have been quite moving. Thank you all for your kind words.
Forgive me if this is sounding a little like an ‘acceptance speech’ but this is the closest I’ll ever get to an Oscar or a BAFTA so indulge me for a moment…In fact on that note I would like to take this opportunity to thank my husband, my parents and of course my colleagues at Amadeus UK, you’re a great team and a pleasure to work with.
On a more personal note, “this one’s for you, Dad”
