In a year that saw London deliver what was arguably the best Olympic Games yet, our hotel team were also ‘going for gold’ by delivering new partnerships and content agreements designed to boost our strong hotel offering. For example, together with payment and settlement experts Conferma, we jointly launched the breakthrough Amadeus Hotel Billback solution. For the very first time, we can now offer you a truly automated and financially secure billback process, deploying a virtual credit card straight into the hotel booking. Amadeus also reached a unique agreement with HRS to distribute their hotel content, something we are pilot testing with customers right now. This new content forms part of our exciting new hotel aggregator offering: Multisource.
For as long as I can remember, content has been the hot topic in travel, and it is especially true in the world of hotels. With the forthcoming launch of our Multisource offering, which sees global bedbanks and aggregators integrated into Amadeus, we will provide 250,000+ hotels to equip you to meet your customers’ demands for choice and value in the most efficient manner possible. Our core GDS hotel content offering also continues growing, currently standing at 95,000 unique hotels worldwide. And our in-house representation company, Amadeus LinkHotel also made gains throughout the year. It now offers more than 6,000 properties not previously represented or available through the global distribution systems.
What makes Amadeus truly special is our on-going investment in research and development. In addition to launching Amadeus Hotel Billback for travel professionals, we will soon bring this smarter technology to the Amadeus e-Travel Management corporate self-booking tool. Plus we will be adding the wealth of HRS hotel content too.
Our graphical Hotels Plus booking tool has been enhanced to make searching for the right accommodation for your customer even easier. We’ve re-engineered some of the screen displays in preparation for delivering even more aggregator and bedbank content in 2013. We are also working on a number of new products including a negotiated rate audit tool, and a unique way to manage, distribute and book private allocations and allotments.
Because Amadeus enjoys a central role in the travel industry, providing IT solutions to both hotel chains and travel sellers, we enable our customers to become better connected to every part of the industry. And because we’re committed to listening better, we promote understanding and facilitate conversations that explore fresh thinking on key topics that matter to travel professionals. A prime example of this in 2012 concerned the handling of debit and credit Card Verification Values (CVV numbers). Looking to the year ahead, Amadeus will continue to spearhead the drive to gain efficiencies across the hotel industry by sharing our expertise, knowledge and solutions.
