There was a real buzz in the air on Monday at Amadeus UK. No one wanted to miss out on the 25th anniversary celebrations – a time to get together and reflect on the successes that Amadeus has enjoyed in the UK since 1991.
Blue and silver balloons adorned the customer centre which had been commandeered for the event; tables groaned under the spread of food with a truly international flavour (including Indian samosas and Hungarian goulash soup prepared by staff!). Music that once played on Walkmans was again playing in the background. Staff were invited to share our good fortune by donating to a national children’s charity, with the company pledging to match the amount collected. Together we raised £500 on the day.
That morning, our managing director, Diane Bouzebiba had a prior engagement to speak at a key industry conference where she announced the launch of Amadeus Airline Ancillary Services. So we had already filmed her personal message to staff. Despite London traffic, Diane managed to get back in time to join the party and cut the cake – cooked by commercial manager, Sarah Barton. It tasted delicious with afternoon tea!
We also received congratulatory messages from customers via Twitter and we created a photo gallery on our Amadeus UK Facebook page. We will continue celebrating this company milestone as we share (and smile at) our Team 25 and Holiday 25 photos. These well illustrate how the passing of time has influenced us all; hair styles, fashion and travel technology.
